Shirley Mayes

Shirley Diane Mayes, 65, of Hixson, passed away in a local hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015. A native of Chattanooga, she was of the Presbyterian faith. Ms. Mayes worked for Chattanooga Warehouse, TVA and LifeTouch before retiring in 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, John E. and Hazel Mayes. Survivors include sisters, Elizabeth, Joy and Bessie Mayes, Sarah (Charles) Ellis; brother, John E. (Carolyn) Mayes Jr.; uncle, Robert Pennington; nephews, Tim Watts, Dr. John E. (Tisenna) Mayes III, Myles Crawley and Shane Arrwood; nieces, Sandra Watts (Robert) Crawley and Megan Watts; great-niece, Emma Arrwood. A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Teddy Ott officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at Memorial Hospital for their care during Ms. Mayes illness.
