Clayton Hargis

Clayton D. Hargis, 82, passsed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at a Chattanooga Hospital with his family at his bedside. He was a member of Palmer United Methodist Church, Almenah Shrine Temple, Nashville, Scottish Rite Bodies of Chattanooga, Past Patron of the OES #266 Tracy City, Sewanee Lodge #405 F&AM, Tracy City, American Legion and a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmon I. and Allie Adams Hargis; wife, Joyce Roberts Hargis, daughter, Drema Reed, grandson, Brady McCullough, sister, Mildred Hargis, Gladys Johnson, Louise Evans, Hilda Brown Velma Green and Ruth Rhoden; Carmon Alton, Paul Vernon, Carl and Ray Hargis; son-in-law, Gary Cleek. He is survived by his son, Doug (Carolyn) Hargis; daughters, Clayta Cleek and Kathy (Larry) Meeks; brother, Howell Hargis, Pinckney, Mich.; grandchildren, Coy Hargis, Kayla (Ric) Anderson and Jordan McCullough; step-grandchildren, Jared (Rachel) Meeks, Aaron (Adrienne) Meeks, Cain (Jan) and Caleb Cleek; several stepgreat-grandchildren; a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Ministers, John Kennedy and Mike Rigsby officiating with burial to follow in Fall Creek Cemetery. Military Honors will be given by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. A Masonic service will be 6 p.m. today followed by a Eastern Star Service. Visitation: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. CST today day at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tenn.
