Pat Underwood

Frances L. "Pat" Underwood, a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, died on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the age of 94. A native of Monticello, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Jonah and Mabel Nicholson Conard. Mrs. Underwood was very active in the Chattanooga area. She and her husband, the late H.E "Woody" Underwood, were longtime members of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She served as past president of the Houston Museum of Decorative Arts and held memberships with the Missionary Ridge Garden Club, the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and the Chattanooga Yacht Club. An avid bridge player, she spent countless hours playing with friends around the area. In addition to her parents and husband, three sisters, Phyllis Conard, Mary O. Conard and Peggy White; brother, Jack Conard; and brother-in-law, Norman Hake preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Gregg C. and Bethany Underwood, Doug and Brenda Underwood; sisters, Carol Hake and Barbara (Chalmers "Bump") Elliott; brother, Bill N. (Marilyn) Conard; sister-in-law, Marene Conard; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Davis, Emily Shiver, Ben (Natalie) Underwood, Bart (Victoria) Underwood, Miosha and DeQuan Hughes; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lanny Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation today, March 5, 2015, from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday, March 6, 2015, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Terrace at Mountain Creek and Hospice of Chattanooga for their care of Mrs. Underwood for the past two years.
