Mary Rind

Mary K. Rind passed away on March 26, 2015. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday. She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., to Isaac and Ada Katchen. She graduated from City High School in Chattanooga. She was employed at Eclipse Lookout Boiler Co. as an executive secretary to the president for 40 years. She was a member of Bnai Zion Synagogue and was active in Hadassah for many years both in Chattanooga and in Sunrise, Fla. She and her husband, Hal Rind, retired to Sunrise, Fla., 25 years ago and she moved back to Chattanooga two years ago. Mary was a wonderful mother who had numerous talents and will be missed by those whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Ada; two sisters, Helen and Mollie; one brother, Louis; and her husband. She is survived by her son, Joel (Paula) Rind; her granddaughter, Zo Rind-Ryan (Dennis Ryan), of New York City; and her niece, Adriel Frumin, of San Diego. The family would like to thank her caregiver, Janie Smartt, and Hospice of Chattanooga for their care during her illness. Services will be held at Shaari Zion Cemetery at 11 a.m. today, March 29, with Rabbi Susan Tendler officiating.
