Billie Crews

Billie Regina Johnson Crews, 67, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga. Born June 30, 1947, Billie was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. She was a graduate of Riverside High School in Chattanooga and Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Billie retired from the Private Industry Council in Chattanooga. She authored a book in 2009, "Saunter Meets the Whipawopper." Billie was preceded in death by her parents, William Johnson, Sr., and Iola Rogers Johnson; one sister, Barbara Lewis; and two brothers, William Johnson Jr. and Nelson Johnson. She is survived by two daughters, Terri (Michael) Payne, of Atlanta and Tracy Crews, of Chattanooga; three sisters, Wanda (Steve) Powell, of Agawam, Mass., Chrisdenator (Jake) Weatherly, of Chattanooga and Christene Fredd, of Mobile, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Rashuan, Mya, Aniya and Lakhia Tucker, of Chattanooga and Michaela and Michael Payne, of Atlanta. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Robert Rice and other ministers officiating. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
