Betty Mahaffey

Betty Jean Mitchell Mahaffey, 78, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015. She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was of the Christian Faith. Betty retired from Galaxy Carpet in 2000 after 21 years of employment. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lydie Louise Campbell Mitchell and brothers, Douglas Mitchell, Donald Mitchell and Roland Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Elmer Hardin) Dorn, of Chickamauga; sister, Reba (Frank) Scruggs, of Chickamauga; brother, Ronald (Shirley) Mitchell, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Mandy (Robert) Murrell, Keith Dye, Becca (Anthony Ridley) Rogers, Daniel Dunn, Nathan Payne; great-grandchildren, Sharon Dye, Lyndsie, Dye, James Rogers and Christopher Rogers; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, in the funeral home chapel, with Minister Richie Dye officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday and prior to the service on Saturday. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, J. Avery Bryan Chapel.
