Nell Morrow

Nell Carolyn Morrow, 96, passed away on the night of Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015. Born Sept. 1, 1919, Mrs. Morrow was a Tennessee native of Lincoln County and longtime resident of Chattanooga. After her parents died in 1920, Nell was raised by maternal grandmother, Louisa Jonell Smith - who died April 3, 1931. Losing her grandmother while still a child, Nell was then raised by her aunt and uncle, Hester Ann Smith and Pleas Smith. Ms. Morrow was a devoted mother, raising six children and her grandson, Michael. She provided support, inspiration and comfort to her family and friends during her long and rewarding life. Ms. Morrow was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin Askins and Malissa Smith Askins; and her dearly-loved sons, Thomas Wayne Morrow, Jerry A. Morrow, David Carl Morrow and Elbert "Moe" Morrow. Living relatives include her beloved daughter, Bettie Mitchell; and her devoted grandson, Michael Rector and his fiance Sandra. Ms. Morrow is survived by her loving grandson, Roger Hayes; his wife Kristie and their children - as well as her niece, Evelyn Askins Brown. Longtime family friends include Jerry Mote and Tom Nolan. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at Advantage Funeral Home chapel with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
