Kenneth Moyer Sr.

Kenneth Steve Moyer Sr., 81, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 27, 2015. Ken was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Luray, Va., the second of 16 children born to Edward and Dimple Moyer. Valedictorian of Spotwood High School, he attended Bridgewater College before entering the United States Air Force in 1953. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant, having served his country faithfully for over 20 years. Ken then settled his family in Fort Oglethorpe and began employment with the State of Tennessee. He retired in 1998 as Personnel Director for the State at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. In 2008, Ken was diagnosed with Parkinsons, a disease which he fought valiantly until the Lord called him home. He was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church in Hixson. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Fred, David, and Bill. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Gail; sons, Kenneth Jr. of Rossville and Robert (Candi) of Chickamauga; daughter, Melanie (Scott) of Clearwater, Fla.; grandson Ryan, granddaughter Kimmy and great-granddaughter Daisy; as well as numerous siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be today, Nov. 29, from 2-4 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 30, from 6-8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home, located at 4506 Hixson Pike. A funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J.
