Jim Ligon

Jimmie Clarence "Jim" Ligon, 81, passed away on Oct. 1, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. A native of West Texas, Jim spent years in the education system as a high school principal and Professor at East Field Collage. Jim moved to North Georgia in 1980 where he designed and built his and Nancys Forever Home. He also envisioned and cultivated his organic garden and orchard at the foot of Taylors Ridge Road in Ringgold. He was a Master Gardner and shared his creative spirit in many ways throughout the North Georgia area. He had served as a counselor at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School from 1980-1992 and for the Chickamauga City Schools system until his retirement. Jim lived out his love for others by serving as a counselor. Jim served as a leader in Ringgold United Methodist Church on various teams and committees and as a leader in the Seekers Sunday School Class. Although Jims ability to serve and give to others was devastated by Alzheimers Disease over the last five years of his life, he never lost his spirit and genuine love of others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Yeuleata Ligon of Electra Texas. Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dr. Nancy S. Ligon; son, Kris Ligon of Ringgold; son, Brian Ligon and wife Cherri of Plano, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Ligon Cass of Dallas, Texas; sister, Betty Marlow and husband John of Midland Texas; grandchildren, Alexander Ligon of Chattanooga, Josh Williams and wife Ebony of Carrollton, Texas, Melissa Williams of Wylie, Texas, Corbin, Carter, and Cullen Cass of Dallas and great-granddaughters Madison, Meara and Maisie Chick of Wylie. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Ringgold United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Cathey and Rev. Steve Moore officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ringgold United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
