Charlotte Dorris

Charlotte Marie Snow Dorris, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Oct. 2, 2015. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, past president of Ladies of Charity and a member of Church Women United. Mrs. Dorris attended St. Marys School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y., where she was on the National Honor Society and had been a registered nurse at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, and Womens Hospital in Chattanooga. She generously donated her time to assist those in need and was deeply concerned about others. Always with a positive attitude she saw the good side of everything, was very witty and complimentary of others. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Marie Dorris, and a sister, Mary Purcell. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, James F. Dorris Jr.; six children, James F. Dorris III (Victoria), Therese Annand (David), William Joseph Dorris (Genevieve), Stephen Edward Dorris (Mary Jean), Richard Joseph Dorris (Suzanne) and John Peter Dorris (Bernadette); 18 grandchildren, James F. Dorris IV, Katherine Marie Dorris, Charlotte Ann Dorris, Mary Caroline Annand, John Richard Annand, Emily Ann Dorris, William Joseph Dorris Jr., James Robert Dorris, Christopher William Dorris, Michael James Dorris, Kelly Ann Dorris, Megan Marianne Dorris, Joseph Richard Dorris, Steven William Dorris, Andie Michelle Dorris, James Theodore Dorris, John Peter Dorris Jr. and Danika Marie Dorris. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Michael Nolan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m. Sunday with a Rosary service at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Ladies of Charity or to Hospice of Chattanooga.
