Sarah Haskin

Sarah Cathryn Gibson Haskin, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015. She was born in Huntersville, N.C., to the late Bingham Leroy and Mary Woods Gibson, but has lived in the North Georgia area since 1973. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Chickamauga. She was a Sunday School Teacher at the church and had worked with Georgia Foster Care for many years taking children in and helping them find new homes and being adopted. She retired from Hutcheson Medical Center in 1996 after more than 20 years of service as a Nurse and loved helping others in any way possible. She was a loving and devoted sister, wife and mother that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Gibson Smith; and two brothers, Jesse Gibson and Thomas Gibson. Survivors include her loving husband of more than 59 years, Jack Houston Haskin; son and daughter-in-law, Mark "DeVane" and Kaye Haskin, all of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; sister, Dorothy Gurley of Davidson, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 9, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Wilton Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in the LaFayette Memory Gardens.
