Margaret Stubblefiel

d ROSSVILLE Margaret J. Stubblefield "Rusty", 85, lived a full life and died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Parkridge Medical Center, in Chattanooga. Rusty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, touching the hearts and lives of many. She never met a stranger and loved quilting, cooking and traveling. Rusty was a founding member, and the first President, of the Battlefield Piecemakers. She was also one of the earliest members of the Pioneer Quilters. She was an honorary life member of both of these quilt guilds. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Charles H. Stubblefield Sr., and her cherished granddaughter Molly Stubblefield. Upon graduation from Rossville High School, she married Charles, a career Air Force Airman, camp following base-to-base for 35 years. During that time she was employed as an Administrative Assistant for Base Commanders as well as working for the Adjunct Office. After Charless retirement to Rossville, Ga., Rusty went to work for Combustion Engineering and TVA. During this time, she obtained a degree in Computer Programming in an era when PCs were still in their infancy. She had a knack for anything related to computers, outshining those around her in this arena. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Rusty is survived by her son, Charles of Rossville, Ga.; her daughter, Greta and her husband Ross Brooks of Melbourne, Australia; her son, Skip and his wife Sinda, of Rome, Ga.; her sister-in-law, Catherine "Kitty" and her husband Henry Thiele; and her 8 grandchildren. Ryan, Riley, Mahalia, William, Frankie, Kylus, Harrison and Coe. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to your local Humane Society or Greyhound Rescue Organization. Her intelligence, passion for life, humor, love of animals and outgoing personality defined her life and will remain with us long after her death.
