Ruth Hampton

Ruth Carolyn Tench Hampton, 82, went home to be with The Lord Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015. She was born in Greenville, S.C., to the late John William and Elvie Lee Nelson Tench. She had lived most of her life in LaFayette and was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Caron Yarn Mill and E.T. Barwick Mills at the Archer Plant. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Hampton; son, Ansel Hampton; and her brothers, John and Neal Tench. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Butler, of Chickamauga, Ga.; four grandchildren, Darrell and Cassandra Butler, Andy and Dustin Hampton; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends today from 4-9 p.m. and Thursday after 11 a.m. until the service. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, in the chapel with Rev.
