Larry Wells Jr, 50, of Chattanooga, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at his home. A well-known Chattanooga businessman and entrepreneur, Larry was a native of Dayton, Tenn., and a 1983 graduate of Rhea County High School. He devoted thirty years of his life to the wireless communication industry, beginning by introducing pagers into the Chattanooga Market by spearheading Cellular One. Since 2003, Mr. Wells has owned and operated Wireless Properties, LLC, serving as CEO, as well as branching out into several other business ventures. Mr. Wells is survived by his parents, Faye (DeVault) and George Larry Wells Sr.; his grandmother, Virginia Wells Pursley; his sister, Robin (Scott) Jones; his niece, Chloe Jones; and two nephews, Hunter and Rylan Jones. Known for his outgoing nature, compassion and generous heart, Larry made friends wherever he went. He never met a stranger and always loved to have fun and make people laugh! Larry had countless friends who meant the world to him and who he loved like family. He touched so many lives in so many ways. He was always ready and willing to do a good deed - to help out friends or strangers, from delivering food and blankets to the Food Kitchen of Chattanooga or rescuing a lost dog from the street. He supported several charities and community functions, including the Humane Education Society, the University of Tennessee - VASF, Turning Point Ministries. and Ashland Terrace Animal Hospital (who always have taken such wonderful care of his sweet little dogs who were his furry little family!) We will always be grateful for having him in our lives. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Oct. 2, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dick Fisher officiating, and he will be laid to rest at Chattanooga Memorial Park following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Terrace Animal Hospital or Turning Point Ministries in memory of G. Larry Wells. Special thanks to The Purple Lady, Mrs. Sonia Young, for the beautiful words for Mr. Wells Obituary. Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson. Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.
