Edward Patalas

Edward Patalas, 75, died Aug. 23, 2016, at his home. Ed was the son of the late Thomas and Hulda Rich Patalas, born June 11, 1941, in Chicago, Ill. He was an over-the-road truck driver for Foodliner, Inc. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment between 1959-1961. Mr. Patalas was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stevenson. Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his two sons, Steven and Kevin Patalas; and sister, Tina Patalas. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley Joyce Coffman Patalas; daughter, Teresa (Scott) Lakey, of Jasper, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jessica (Lane) Burleson, of Rainsville, Ala., Jordan Patalas, of Stevenson, Ala.; special great-granddaughter, Emilie Leathers, of Jasper; two great-grandsons, Braxton Farmer and Nathan Burleson; brothers, Bill (Beverly) Patalas, of Scottsboro, Ala., Tom Patalas, of Illinois; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be today, from 3 to 8 p.m. CDT at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, AL. The Funeral Service will be Friday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Danny Lee and Rev. Bill Stone. Interment will be in Longacre Cemetery. www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
