Charles Lee Ballard

Charles Lee Ballard, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas and was a member of Fort Oglethorpe Church of Christ. He was previously employed with U.S. Pipe for many years as a Machinist and was a Navy Veteran. Charles enjoyed mowing lawns and landscaping. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Tennessee Vols Football fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Thelma Ballard; and two sisters, Glenda Collins and Doris Assman. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 55 years, Edna Cox Ballard, of Rossville, Ga.; children, Carla and Rodney Smith, of Trenton, Ga., Amy Stanley, of Rossville, Ga., and Josh Ballard, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sisters, Joyce and LeBron Hixon, of Rossville, Ga., and Linda Jett, of Hixson; three grandchildren, Fallon Gant, Adam Gravitt and Branton Phillips; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Bro. C.G. Griffith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
