Geree Gray

Susie “Geree” Brogdon Gray, 82, of Ooltewah, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 29, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was born Feb. 22, 1934, to the late Ben and Ella Oliver. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with family and friends and to witness for the Lord. She was of the Church of God faith. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing Southern Gospel songs with her husband and she never missed an opportunity to tell you that you needed to make sure “your heart was right with God and you were ready to go." She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mark Brogdon; her son, Marlon Brogdon; and her sister and best friend, Mary (Sister) Walker. She leaves behind her husband of 36 years, Lester Gray; sons, Mitchell and Jackie (Vickie) Brogdon; daughters, Doris (Leroy) Adams, Sharon (Damon) Wiley, Charlene (Pete) McCorkle, and Kimberly (Steve) West; grandchildren, Misty Catchings, Leann Kerr, Dana Smith, Kristen Brogdon, Shawn and Kevin West, Jacklynn and Heather Brogdon, Travis and Michael McCorkle; and great-grandchildren, Eli and Carter Smith, Wyatt Kerr, Carson Brogdon and Carter West. She also held a special place in her heart for her nephew, Donald Oliver and her nieces Lucy Russell and Margie Newby, which she also considered as her children. The family will receive friends today, Dec. 2, 2016, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. in the Valley View Chapel with Rev.
