Sylvia Douglas

Sylvia M. Ward Douglas, 73, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at the home of her sister. She resided in Toledo, Ohio for more than 40 years. She was self-employed as a nurses’ assistant and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, James W. Ward Sr.; mother, Bessie B. Finley; two sisters; and one brother. Survivors include her sons, Wallace D. Douglas, of Toledo, Ohio and James (Vicki) Douglas Jr., of Georgia; daughters, Lisa J. Douglas, of Columbus, Ohio and Belinda (Jared) Fann, of Toledo, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Bennie Ward, of Chattanooga; sisters, Rose M. Bouie, of Chattanooga, Gloria D. Ward, of Spring City, Tenn., Queen Ann Glass, and Omega B. Barber, both of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held in Toledo, Ohio at a later date. Arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Chattanooga, Inc.
