Jimmy Perkins

UPATOI — James Harding “Jimmy” Perkins, 68, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Ga., following a two-year hard and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Clifford Harding and Bonnie Mae Failes Perkins, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Rick Perkins. A native of Jasper, Tenn., he had lived in Fernandina Beach, Fla., for 50 years, where he owned and operated Haddock Pest Control. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend who loved fishing and playing golf. He was a kind and loving soul who never met a stranger. Survivors include his daughter, Liza (Brett) Blalock, of Upatoi, Ga.; three grandsons, Jacob Medure, of New York, Harrison and Grant Blalock, of Upatoi; one nephew, Rick Perkins, of Jasper; and lifelong friends, Betsi Pryor, Aldine Ketner, and Tricia Dyer. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. central today, Dec. 26, 2016, at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel at noon central time on Tuesday, Dec. 27, with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
