David Kammer Jr.

David Kammer, Jr., 77, a fourth-generation native of Chattanooga, passed away Feb. 4, 2016, in Draper, Utah. He was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Chattanooga, the son of the late Elmer David Kammer Sr., and Margaret Hoge Kammer. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1961. David retired after 29 years with TVA as a power supply engineer. David was an active sportsman all his life, enjoying racing sports cars, skydiving and hang-gliding. He hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. He played bagpipes in the Alhambra Shrine Bagpipe Band for many years. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chattanooga Jaycees. David was an active and dedicated long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Whittaker Kammer; a daughter, Elisa Eaton; three sons, Elmer David Kammer III, Lance Kammer, Benjamin Kammer; and nine grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved and enjoyed being around. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at 11 a.m. MST at the Draper 12th Ward, 12353 S 600 E., Draper, UT 84020. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m prior to the service.
