Betty Adair

Betty Adair Betty Eldridge Adair, passed away Feb. 9, 2016, at Elmcroft Senior Living Facility in Chattanooga after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born on June 3, 1925 in Chattanooga and was a longtime local resident. In addition to being a loving mother of three children, Betty was an avid bridge player for more than fifty years. She enjoyed the game as well as the socializing with the many friends she met over the years. Also, she was very talented in needlework, being a member of the Embroiders Guild of Chattanooga and its president many years ago. Betty moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 13 years ago, where she continued to play bridge, enjoyed water aerobics and gardening in her yard where she cultivated several exotic plants. She was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. In 2010, she moved back to Chattanooga. Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Arthur N. Adair, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Patterson and Martha Dickerson; parents, James and Annie Eldridge; daughter in-law, Betsy Carlson Adair; and her close friend, Murray Kiviat. She is survived by her children: Art (Donna) Adair, of Houston, Texas; Gary Adair, of Springfield, Ill and Susan (Ken) Levi, of Chattanooga; brothers, Robert (Jeanetta) Eldridge, of Chattanooga, and Don (Karen) Eldridge, of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild. Graveside services for Betty will be Friday February 12, 2016, at 11:30 a.m., at the U.S. National Cemetery, with Joshua Rochester officiating.
