Jan Marshall

Jan Marie Marshall,59, passed away on Feb. 9, 2016, among family and friends, after an ardent six year battle with cancer. Jan was born Oct. 11, 1956, in Chattanooga, the daughter of Bill Kirklen and Katherine Kirklen. Jan lead an accomplished and fulfilled life. She had a vast array of capabilities and competencies. She worked as an event coordinator for the Sheridan of Key Biscayne, as a legal secretary for prominent attorneys and firms, and, finally, for the Girls Preparatory School's Head of School, Ricky Pierce in Chattanooga. Jan was a nature enthusiast who loved to surround herself by beautiful foliage throughout her house, doing a variety of arts and craft activities, such as, crocheting and furniture refurbishments or improvements, perusing the local artists creations at the Chattanooga's Farmer's Market, and, especially, relished spending time with her beloved grandson Samuel Day Holly. Jan is survived by her sisters, Debra Baldridge and Peggy Roe; daughters, Jean Marie Marshall, Claudia Lee Marshall, and Julie Francis Marshall; grandson, Samuel Day Holly; two nephews; one niece; and a number of other relatives and close friends. The family thanks all of those who have cared for her throughout her illness, especially, Dr. Derek Holland of Tennessee Oncology.
