Ruby Beard

LaFAYETTE Ruby Whaley Beard, 95, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016. She was born in Walker County, Ga., to the late William L. Whaley and Martha Emma Bird Whaley. She was a homemaker and enjoyed needle work, gardening, traveling, watching Wheel of Fortune and was a member of The Coca-Cola Collectors Club. She was a lifelong member of Center Grove Baptist Church in Rock Spring, Ga. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband,Dennis Beard; children, Donna Beard Tillerson and Dennis "Danny" Beard. She is survived by her children, Martha Beard (Fred) Wunderlich, of Ringgold, Ga., Sandra Beard (Jack) Ware, of Ringgold, Ga., Margaret Beard, of LaFayette, Ga., William D. (Della) Beard, of Ringgold, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren;, several nieces; and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Center Grove Baptist Church, with David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in LaFayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Center Grove Baptist Church at 68 Center Grove Church Road Rock Spring, GA. 30739.
