Georgia Cookston
Georgia Ray Ellis Cookston, 88, passed away, in her home Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was a founding member of the Griffith Creek Community Church, and retired from the Marion County School System after over 30 years of service. She lived life to the fullest and always looked forward to what tomorrow would bring. Mrs. Cookston was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harold Cookston; parents, George, Ethel, and Mae Ellis; brothers, J.R. and Jimmy Ellis; sisters, Virginia Barnes, Alta Smith, Annie Coursey, and Margaret Birt; step-siblings, Rufus Stamper, Nell Cullins, and Wibba Yarborough. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Winston Cookston, Kenny Cookston, Donna (Robert) Lane, Stanley Cookston, and Greg (Rocky) Cookston, all of Whitwell; grandchildren, Barry (Brandie) Cookston, Kelly (Daniel) Henry, Talena (Garrett) Green, Jaya, Justin, Tyler and Dakota Cookston, and Holly and Heather Carson; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Green, Emma Henry, Sophie Cookston, Camden Green, and Presley Jones. Special daughter-in-law Judy Morrison; special niece, Glenda Ruth; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Cookston, Gary (Gayle) Cookston; sisters-in-law, Alma Cookston and Octie Stamper, Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel Friday, July 29, 2016, at 2 p.m. CST, with Brothers Ronnie Cookston and Steve Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Griffith Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, from 3 to 8 p.m. CST. Online condolences can be made at www.reedfamilyfh.com.
