Jim Mullenix

James "Jim" Allen Mullenix, 66, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away from brain cancer on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at his home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Soddy-Daisy. In his lifetime, he served in many law enforcement positions. He was an Alaska State Trooper, chief of Police for North Pole, Alaska as well as serving in law enforcement in Arizonaand Tennessee. Most recently he served with Soddy-Daisy Police and as a Hamilton County Park Ranger, a position that allowed him to enjoy park visitors,nature, and his passion ofphotography. A man who was generous and giving to his community, he served as a volunteer firefighter and EMS, and also conducted classes in ASP Tactical Baton.In his spare time, he photographed the Soddy DaisyParade, Church plays, and many local community events. He built websites for organizations andchurches. He was well known for the "Pearl Dogs" that he hand shaped for every woman and child he met. His greatest joy was serving the Lord by serving others and putting a smile on their face. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Gibson; father,Paul Mullenix; brothers, GeorgeGibson and Don Gibson; sister, Nancy Gibson; and son, Jason Mullenix. He leaves behind his wife, Gayle Fry Mullenix; sisters, Jean (Jack) West and Jill (Lester) Bingman; brothers, Ken (Barbie) Mullenix, Mark Mullenix and Matt Mullenix; sons, Justin (Jamie) Mullenix, Jim (Kim) Mullenix; stepson, Steven (Dana Woody) Morgan, stepdaughters, Kimberly (Randy) Lewis and Pamela Barnett; grandchildren, Jacob, Jeffery, Andrew and Kayla Mullinex, Branden Widdison, Tyler (Caitlin) Stokes, Casey (Jeane Thomas) Stokes, Christopher Davis, Erica (Brandon Pope) Hindman, Leslie (Aaron Branum) Lewis and Anna Woody; great grandchildren, Brayden Davis, Carter and Sam Stokes, Hensley Pope, Kailey and Kamille Thomas. Services will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Seton Tomyn officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
