Betty Ann Grant

Betty Ann Grant, 81, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, July 28, 2016, at her residence. She was a native of Gaston County, N.C., and lived in West Palm Beach and Okeechobee, Fla., before moving to the Nantahala Community, N.C., and Chattanooga 30 years ago. She was a homemaker who was loved and respected by everyone who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Meek and Mary Pearl Ramsey Capps and the wife of the late George Edward Grant, who died August 11, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Barton; and two brothers, Bob and Fred Capps. Surviving are four daughters, Lynn Atkinson, of Hixson, Lila Wingo and husband, Clyde, of Ringgold, Ga., LuAnn Baum and husband, Mike, of Coalmont, Tenn., and Dena Ubillos and husband, Scott of Lithia, Fla.; two sons, George Grant Jr., of Hixson, and Mark Grant and wife, Tara, of Bloomingdale, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016, in the Chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, North Carolina, with Rev. Jim Cochran officiating. The interment will be in Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trevor and Troy Ledford, Justin Hawkins, Aaron Wingo, Jake Baum, and Hayes Ubillos. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday evening, at the Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, North Carolina. The family requests memorials be made in memory of Betty Ann Grant to the Briartown Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Missy Evans, 506 Briartown Church Road, Topton, NC 28781.
