Walter Thompson Jr.

Walter Thompson, Jr. Walter Hoyt Thompson, Jr., 67, passed away at his home Saturday, May 21, 2016. Born in Dayton, Tenn., he was the only son of the late Walter H. Thompson, Sr. and Ruby Jewel Randolph Thompson. A longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, he graduated from Central High School and served in the U.S. Coastal Reserves. Mr. Thompson was a graduate of the police academy, working several years for the Hamilton County Sherriffs Department. He was also an expert marksman, competing in several competitions. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce Cox, Juanita Corley and Nona Thompson. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Thompson; children, Sheri Thompson, Marchel Tinney and Adam Thompson; grandchildren, Sam and Alora Chisholm, Sam King, Jacob, Eva, Eli and Sophia Thompson; and a sister, Eve Clemons. A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Alan Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, May 27, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 28, 2016, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
