Arthur McReynolds

CLEVELAND — Arthur Hugh McReynolds, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2016, after a brief illness in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of the graduating class of 1946 of Bradley Central High School, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a millwright at DuPont Nylon in Chattanooga for over 40 years. After his retirement, he was an active member of the DuPont Retirees Group and enjoyed his lifelong friendships with his co-workers. Arthur was an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church for over 65 years and dearly loved his church family. He served on the Church Council and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He loved to attend The Prime Timers and the “Lunch Bunch.” He was a descendent of two pioneer families of Bradley County and was a proud member of the Sons of the American Revolution and The First Families of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Bess Collins McReynolds. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Effie Swafford, of Athens, Ga., Ms. Ellen McReynolds, of Cleveland, and Mrs. Alice Quinn, of Hixson; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Barbara McReynolds, of Cleveland; and special friend, Ms. Peggy McClain. He is survived by nieces, Mary-Ellen Swafford Loveless (Jonathan), of Athens, Ga., Emily Quinn Campbell (Don), of Harrison, Sara Quinn Morrison, of Soddy-Daisy, Lucy McReynolds Keller (Aaron), of Cleveland and nephew Roy Quinn (Kristi), of Cleveland. He was dearly loved by his great nieces and nephews, William Loveless, of Athens, Ga., Robert and Kelly Campbell, of Harrison, Ethan Quinn, of Cleveland, Cooper Morrison of Soddy Daisy, Isabelle and Adon Keller, of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Broad Street United Methodist Church, with Pastor Randy Martin and Pastor Debbie Stokes officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery, with Roy Quinn, Ethan Quinn, Don Campbell, William Loveless, Cooper Morrison and Edward Geren serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam McReynolds and the members of the Dupont Retirees Group. Honorary junior pallbearer will be Adon Keller. His family will receive friends from 1to 3 p.m., at the church today, prior to the service.
