Lydia Adams

Lydia Sindos Adams, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. She was born on July 22, 1933, in New Orleans, La., and lived there until moving to Chattanooga in 2005. Lydia graduated from Xavier Preparatory High School in 1950 and from Xavier University in 1954. In 1973, she earned her Masters from Loyola University. She was predeceased by her parents Lydia Gumbel Sindos and Henry Charles Sindos; and brother, Henry Cornelius Sindos. Lydia is survived by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, John Q. Adams. They were married in New York City on Nov. 3, 1957. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Donna Bobb-Semple (Keith); sons, John S. Adams (Annette), Michael D. Adams (Cherita); sister, Betty Duhé; special niece, Valda Jenkins; grandchildren, John Jr. (Tiffany), John Stephen (Trisha), Gentry (Juliane), Jeremy, Jarrod (Porché), Charis (Mason), Tylar, Joshua, Jolie, Dallen; great-grandson Elijah; and a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at 1:30 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 501 S Moore Rd, Chattanooga, TN, 37412. Services in Louisiana will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, with visitation from 9 to 10:45 a.m. CST, followed by Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. CST, at St. Maria Goretti, 7300 Crowder Blvd, New Orleans, LA, 70127. Interment in St Louis Cemetery No. 3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Xavier University of New Orleans - Office of Institutional Advancement, 1 Drexel Dr., Box 66, New Orleans, LA 70125.
