Reuben Dunigan

Reuben Ernest Dunigan, 40, transitioned from this earth on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 in Brentwood, Tenn. Born Jan. 23, 1976, in Memphis, Tenn., he graduated from Bolton High School in Memphis and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, John A. Gupton Mortuary School in Nashville and the Gupton–Jones Mortuary School in Atlanta, Ga. Reuben loved his family and will truly missed by all who knew his sweet kind spirit. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Everett Dunigan; grandparents, Rueben and Emma Strickland; Rev. E. E. and Lois Dunigan and uncle, Eugene Dunigan. He is survived by his wife, Tonya Dunigan; three children, Olivia, Nicholas and Julius Dunigan; step-children, Devin and Alexandria Chesser; mother, Christi Strickland Poston; sister, Gretchen Dunigan; uncle, James (Brenda) Strickland; great-uncle and aunt, Lewis and Virginia Pryor; brother-in-law, Andrew Chesser and special niece, Jayla Allen; many other relatives, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hyksos Temple 123 to the Rueben Strickland Memorial Scholarship Fund or Second Missionary Baptist Church Capital Improvement Fund or to the IBPOE of W Education Department. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2305 East 3rd Street with Rev. Dr. Ernest L. Reid, Eulogist and other ministers officiating. Interment in Highland Memorial Gardens. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
