Sue Powell

Sue Carol Powell, affectionately called Judy, of Chattanooga, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Erlanger Health System. Born Feb. 4, 1952, to the late Walter, Sr. and Bernice Swinson in Snow Hill, N.C., Judy was of Baptist faith. She retired as a Transport Tech from Memorial Hospital. She is survived by husband, Stephen Powell; children, Adrian “Martell” Powell, of Leesburg, Va., and Donta Carlos Walters, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Natalya Oattes and Brandon Walters; great-grandchild, Braylen Oattes; brothers, Elder Stanley Swinson, of Kinston, N.C., Walter Jr., Larry and Wayne Swinson, all of Snow Hill, N.C.; sister, Mary Ellison, of Richmond, Va.; father-in-law, Charles (Geraldine) Powell; mother-in-law, Janie Taylor, of Buffalo, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Angela (Willie) Davis; brothers-in-law, Frederick (Melissa) Taylor, of San Diego, Calif., Victor (Andrea) Powell, of Baltimore, Md., Stanley (Tracie) Powell, of Mays Landing, N.J.; family friend, Carlos McConnell; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Today, the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon, service to follow at Orchard Knob Baptist Church 1734 East 3rd Street, Chattanooga, TN 37404. Rev. Wilber Waddle, Eulogist.
