Liz Morris

Elizabeth "Liz" Morris, 85 of Hixson, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017. Liz grew up in the Rossville, Ga., area and attended Central High School in Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy W. Morris. For more than 30 years she was the office manager for the oral surgery practice of Drs. Charles F. Landis and Landis, but she would say that her greatest accomplishments were her three daughters, Denise (Jeff) Durham, Cindy (Mike) Houser and Kimberly (Will) McPherson, all of Hixson; her four grandchildren, Michelle Campbell McBrien, Brian Campbell, Zac Holbrook, and Hannah Holbrook and two great-grandsons, Derrek and Dylan McBrien. In her younger years, Liz was a member of the Chattanooga Water Ski Club and spent many hours on the lake with family and friends. She lived in the Valleybrook Community of Hixson where she loved watching the golfers from her kitchen window and in the sunshine on her back deck. She was a lifelong member of Hixson Church of Christ where everyone knew her as "Granny Liz," because of her selfless service there as a volunteer at VBS, Mother's Day Out, Thursday School, and as a nursery worker. Granny Liz devoted her life to taking care of others. On rare occasion that she took time for herself, she loved working in her yard, planting flowers, and feeding the birds. She also loved watching the TN Vols play football and listening to country music. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Her family asks that everyone remember her as the feisty, loving caregiver that she was when her health still allowed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hamilton Park Drive, Chattanooga, Tenn. Arrangements are by Legacy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Soddy-Daisy.
