Claude Kaye

Claude V. Kaye, 93, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Claude was born and raised in Birmingham, Ala., and was a 1943 graduate of Ensley High School. He served our country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Claude attended Howard College in Birmingham. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad with more than 40 years of service. Claude was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claud V. Kay Sr., and Trissie Hill Kay; brother, Howard W. Kay. Claude is survived by his children, Elizabeth (Phil) Whitfield; son, C. Kirk (Cecilia) Kaye; six grandchildren, Richard Baird, Gregg (Pryor) Baird, Morgan Gouge, William Kaye, David (Jennica) Whitfield, and Brook (Chris) Trible; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today, April 21, and 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Services for Claude will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the North Chapel with Rev. Margaret Ferguson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. EDT at Crumley Chapel Cemetery, 336 Crumley Chapel Road, Birmingham, Ala., 35214.
