James A. Pierce, 70, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., passed away April 19, 2017, at his residence. James was a lifetime resident of the Bakewell Community, a member of the New Mount Annie Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon since 1976. He loved to work with the sick and shut-in in the community. He traveled with the Bible quiz program and was on the Missionary Committee of the Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pleas and Josephine Dooley Pierce; three sisters, Delores, Freida, Brenda; three brothers, Frank Joe Robinson, Pleas Pierce, Freddie Pierce. Survivors include his wife, Marie Pierce, of Bakewell; two sons, Mitchell Tulloss (Crystal), of Nashville, Tenn., Warrick Tulloss, of Bakewell; four daughters, Mary Hughes (Kenneth), of Chattanooga, Tenn., Candace (David) Rock, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Sandra (Donald) Burton, of Bakewell, Ericka (Theodore) Hyatte, of Bakewell; two sisters, Linda Ramsey, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Alvenia Huges, of Boston, Mass.; one brother, Jackie Pierce, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Service will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 3 p.m. at New Mount Baptist Church, Bakewell, with Rev. Tyrus Chislom officiating. Interment: Pleasant Hill AME Zion Cemetery, Bakewell.
