Ann Broyles

FORT OGLETHORPE — Ann Carpenter Broyles, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Leawood, Kan., while visiting her daughter. Born April 10, 1925, in Chattanooga, Tenn. She is survived by her children and their spouses, son, Kenneth Prince Broyles (Debbie), daughter, Lisa Day Unklesbay (Allen) and son, Kile C. Broyles (Jann); grandchildren, Morgan Broyles, Laura Harris and Alicia Unklesbay; great-grandchildren, Nora Harris and Ada Harris; niece, Mary Ann Sanders; as well as many family and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Mallie Carpenter; brother, James E. Carpenter; sister-in-law, Fran Carpenter; and numerous aunts and uncles. Ann was an active member of Fort Oglethorpe First Baptist Church for 41 years. Her church and her faith have been her strength and support for her entire life. Ann was a mother, an active church member and a business owner with her husband Prince. Ann’s talents with art and words contributed to the Piggly Wiggly grocery business they built in the 60s and 70s. She was a loyal employee of K-mart for 17 years. She loved art, poetry and people. Some of her attributes were creativity and poise and she used these talents to positively affect others in her life, church and business. The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe, and on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by the service in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jason Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn.
