Cindy Young
Melva Cynthia Young, 62, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, in a local hospital.
A longtime resident of Chattanooga and formerly of Trenton, Ga., Mrs. Young was a self-taught artist who loved to travel, but her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
She was of the Baptist faith and was formerly co-owner of Lookout Auto Care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Young; sister, Debra Shirley and parents, Melvin and Charline Simpson.
Survivors are her three daughters, Melissa (Tommy) Cates, Crystal Simpson, both of Chattanooga and Dawn (Tony) Dabbs, Trenton; two sisters, Alice Buchanan, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Sheila (Chuck) Shoulders, Seattle, Wash.; brother, Marty Simpson, Rossville; five grandchildren, Marcus Wheeler, Lauren and Owen Dabbs, Zach and Zoe Cates; two great-grandchildren, Addy Green and Ayden Wheeler; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held today, April 24, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
