Charlie Cleghorn

VILLANOW — Charlie “Elbert” Cleghorn, 95, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Reita Tarvin Cleghorn; son, Thomas Cleghorn; granddaughter, Renice Ann Cleghorn. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. He is survived by two sisters, Annie Mae Sanders, of Hixson, Tenn., and Marie Lasley, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Murleene Cleghorn, of Lafayette; grandchildren, Dean and Jill Cleghorn and Don and Josie Cleghorn, all of Lafayette; great-grandchildren, Aimee, Asa, Maddie and Hartley Cleghorn; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held Monday, May 1, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Rocky Face Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Clifford Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Villanow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the service time at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the great-grandchildren’s further education fund, c/o Julian Peeples Funeral Home.
