Gary Worley

A thin veil exists between this world and eternity, and on Friday, April 28, 2017, Gary Worley, 60, of Birchwood, crossed it. A loving and devoted family man, he was still married to his high school sweetheart and together they raised a beautiful daughter, who adores him. Gary was loyal and hardworking, as evidenced by his employment with Hudson Construction Company for more than 25 years. An avid sportsman, when he wasn't working or spending time with his family, he was outdoors hunting or fishing. Gary practiced his Christian faith by always having a smile on his face and kind words for those around him. His absence from this life will be felt deeply by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Dawn Worley; his father, Jimmy Worley; his brother, Timmy Worley; his father and mother-in-law, James and Mildred Bowman; and sister-in-law, Lisa Adkins. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia "Sissy" Worley; daughter, Nikka and her husband, John Moates; mother, Mildred Worley; brother, Jeff Worley, all of Birchwood; sisters-in-law, Jimmie Branham, Brenda (Bud) Suttles, Karen (Floyd) Owsley, and Christy Bowman; brothers-in-law, Michael (Tracy) Adkins and Dennis (Becky) Bowman; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he cherished also survive. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Tavner Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105, or to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, Mass., 01923. We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Worley family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com.
