Kenny Seagroves

RINGGOLD — Kenneth J. “Kenny” Seagroves, 56, of the Burning Bush community of Ringgold, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017. Kenny was a lifelong resident of north Georgia and a 1979 graduate of Rossville High School. During his time at Rossville High, he set a track record with a four minute, four second mile. Kenny received a track scholarship at UTC and he later graduated from Miller Motte in 2009 with a Massage Therapy degree. He was currently employed by the Hamilton County Department of Education as a Security Specialist. Kenny had a love for soccer. He refereed anything from rec league to semi-pro matches all across the southeast. He was a member of the S.S.O.A. and the South Eastern District Referees State Assessor and Assigner, recently getting his state badge grade 6. Kenny loved competitive shooting and he founded the North Georgia Defensive Pistol and Rifle Association. Kenny was an ordained deacon and a member of Silverdale Baptist Church where he served on the media team, operating the sound board and cameras. Within the past five years, Kenny developed a deeper relationship with Christ, and worked hard to keep Him in the center of his life. He enjoyed practical jokes and valued his relationships with everyone he knew. Making his wife and daughters happy was the highlight of his life. If you had Kenny as a friend, you will know why there will be such a void in your life. He will truly be missed by all. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Birdie Seagroves; brother, Raymond “Bud” Seagroves; and grandson, Ilias Everett. Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Vicki Seagroves; daughters, Brittany (Patrick) Everett, Brianna (Joseph) Frejosky, and Kendyl (Tyler) McGill, all of Ringgold; grandchildren, Isabella and Isaiah Everett; sisters, Thelma (Paul) Compton, of Chickamauga, Juanita Wright, of Rossville, Barbara (Don) Harris, of Leesburg, Ala., and Kathryn Tinker, of Wildwood, Ga.; brother, Charles (Alice) Seagroves, of Ringgold; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at the Burning Bush Baptist Church with Pastor Travis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Seagroves will lie-in-state from noon until the service hour Wednesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at lane-southcrestchapel.com. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
