Edward Tyrone Acklin, 78, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at his residence. He was a 1957 graduate of Howard High School and received his bachelor of Science degree from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. Edward retired from Norfolk Southern railway as a conductor. He was also a pilot and a member of the Black Pilots Association. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Acklin; mother, Samantha Gregory; wife, Kathryn Beverly Acklin. Survivors include his son, Anthony (Amanda) Acklin; granddaughter, Ava Acklin, all of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Regina Acklin of N.Y.; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Visitation is today from 6 to 7 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery with the pastor Ernest Reid as eulogist.
