Shelba Parks

Shelba Helms Parks, 79, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning, Feb. 18, 2017. Mrs. Parks was a native of Fort Payne, Ala., and has lived in Chattanooga since 2001. She, along with her husband were restaurant entrepreneurs for many years in Alabama and Mississippi. She retired from the Pharmacy Dept. of CVS after 25 years of service. Mrs. Parks was faithful to her Lord and was an active member, until her death, at The Church of God of the Union Assembly where she served as church secretary / treasurer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ken Parks; daughter, Beverly Parks Loveless; and parents, Beuford and Edith Helms. Mrs. Parks is survived by two daughters, Kim (Travis) Smith, Fort Payne, Ala., and Debra Parks; two sons, Kenneth (Pam) Parks, Cullman, Ala., and Michael (Terry Coggins) Parks, Signal Mountain, Tenn.; six grandchildren, T. Jay (Kristie) Smith, Broderick (Stephanie)Loveless, Kenny (Whitney) Parks, Kelly Parks (Jarrod) Davis, Monica Taylor and Craig (Aleece) Taylor; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lee (Colleen) Helms, Madison, Miss., and Charles Helms, Mobile, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Oley Wilson and Rev. Blake Brafford officiating. Mrs. Parks will be taken to Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne, Ala., for visitation today from 4 to 8 p.m. and graveside services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Cemetery, Fort Payne, Ala.
