Mary Groover

Mary L. Groover, 93, of East Ridge, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017. Mrs. Groover was born and raised in Marion County. She was owner and operator of her own beauty salon for many years in East Ridge, a member of Newnan Springs United Methodist Church and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Horace Sumner Groover Jr.; parents, William and Sudie Hargis; aunt, Mary Jane Anderson; brothers, Newt and George Hargis; and sister, Elma Lou Cain. Surviving are her daughters, Teresa (Charlie) Stanbery and Betty (Calvin) Whitley; grandchildren, Marian Rebecca, Chris (Heather) Williams and James Dougan; great-grandchildren, Cody Wilson, Allie, Skylar Williams and Landon Williams; brothers, Melvin and Robert Hargis; sister, Charlsie Fitz-gerald; nephews, Bill Cain and Jeff Hargis; and nieces, Joy Daughtry, Doris Baron, Sallie Wayne and Heather Hargis. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Rieger officiating.
