Mildred Nixon

Mildred G. Hylen Nixon, 94, of Hixson, passed away on Dec. 28, 2016. She was born in England and came to the United States as a warbride. Mildred was a registered nurse at Erlanger for more than 30 years and was an active member of the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church congregation. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Otto Hylen and Hugh Nixon; sons, Philip Hylen and Wade Andrew Hylen. She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Aygen) Dogar, of West Lafayette, Ind.; grandchildren, Rana Foroohar, of New York City, Dawn Lyons, of Charlotte, N.C., Sean Dogar, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Philip Hylen Jr., of Winchester, Tenn.; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held today, Jan. 7, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 7514 Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.
