John Besing

CLEVELAND — Dr. John W. Besing, 64, passed away Sunday evening, surrounded by his wife and many friends from Bradley Healthcare; he succumbed to his injuries from his accident in 2006. John was born in Haubstadt, Ind., and grew up in the rural community on a farm. He graduated from Indiana State University, with a biology degree and did his residency in Internal Medicine at East Tennessee State University. He came to Cleveland in 1984 and opened a private practice which continued until 1996. After that he enjoyed working as an emergency room physician in various hospitals in the area until his accident. Dr. Besing's hobbies included body building, fishing, camping, parachuting, reading, and making model boats, but his true loves were his daughters and granddaughters and he spent every moment that he could with them. Dr. B spent the last ten years of his life at Bradley Healthcare and Rehab. He loved all of his girls but had a special affection for Emily, Linda, Linzi, Lorie, Donna, Sissie, and many, many, more. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther Besing; and one brother, Robert. Dr. Besing is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cathy Williams Besing; his daughters, April Besing and Tania Hart; his grandchildren, Breanna and McKynly; his sister, Nancy Leukhardt (Kerry); his brother, Tom Besing; his sister-in-law, Carole Nevins (James), of Evansville, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be conducted at 6 p.m. today, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, with Rev. Jennie Cissom officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
