Carolyn Geren

CLEVELAND — Carolyn Standifer Geren, 77, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Tennessee. She graduated from Ooltewah High School in 1957 and then attended the McKenzie Business College. She was employed for 23 years at Cutter’s Laboratory in Chattanooga, Tenn., and retired from Mars Incorporated. Church was a very important part of Carolyn’s life; she was a longtime member and served as an elder of the New Prospect United Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her family remembers her fun-loving nature, infectious laughter, and ability to make friends wherever she went. Carolyn was predeceased by her father, Quintus Standifer; her mother, Catherine Baker Standifer; and sister, Ann Standifer Willerson. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (David), of Cleveland; grandson Dylan, of Cleveland; brother Gary, of Redding, Calif.; and many extended family members. A celebration of her life service will be held at 6 p.m. today, Jan. 19, 2017 at the New Prospect United Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 4 to 6 p.m. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Candies Creek Cemetery.
