Greta Davis

Greta J. Davis, 84, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. She was born on Sept. 29, 1932, in Lester, Ky., to the late James L. and Garnett Lucas Frederick. Greta was a graduate of Whitesburg High School in Whitesburg, Ky. In 1953 she married U.S. Army Sgt. Jack D. Priest, of Memphis, Tenn., with whom she had two children. While the family was stationed in Germany she was widowed in 1958, and she was re-married from 1964-1970 to the late Ray D. Davis, of Chattanooga. A native of Kentucky, Greta resided most of her life in Tennessee with more than 50 years in East Ridge and attended both Mission Oaks Baptist Church and Ridgedale United Methodist Church. Greta spent most of her life as a devoted, loving and patient mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved painting as a hobby and volunteering at the local shelter for battered women. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dianna Banks, of McDonald, Tenn. She is survived by her brother, Gary Frederick, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.; two children, son, Brodric Priest and wife, Regina, of Barstow, Calif., daughter, Sandra Priest and Doug Yates, of Ringgold, Ga.; four grandchildren, Shanon Priest and Eric, of McDonald, Tenn., Andrea Priest and Jason Priest, of Red Bank, Tenn., Brian Priest and Chasity, of Ringgold, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Tetsu, Dakota, Ava, and Elsen. Greta will be greatly missed, never forgotten, and will live on in the hearts of us who she loved unconditionally. Funeral services will be noon Monday, July 24, 2017, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Danny Henson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Anderson Cemetery in Ringgold.
