Elaine Rodman

RINGGOLD — Gladys Elaine MacKinnon Staples Rodman, 91, passed away Monday July 24, 2017, at her residence. A native of Quincy, Mass., she has lived in the Ringgold area for the past 38 years and was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Staples; second husband, Lloyd Rodman; parents, John and Elizabeth MacKinnon; son, Ralph “Rusty” Staples; brother, Robert MacKinnon; and sister, Marcia Middleton. She is survived by five children, Dan (Debbie) Staples, of Dennis, Mass., Judy (Marty) Griswold, of Chattanooga, Mary (Mark) Yates, of Chattanooga, Cindi (John) Caroland, of Ringgold, and Beverly (David) Forester, of Ringgold; five stepchildren, Doris (Toney) Hicks, of Chattanooga, Midge Spencer, Evelyn Matthews, Wilma (Charles) Trainor, and Lyle (Pam) Rodman, all of Illinois; brother, Jack (Ann) MacKinnon, of Quincy, Mass.; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Mason officiating. Elaine will lie-in-state at the church from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens-South. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritans Purse.
