Paul Carden

Paul Matthew Carden, 80, of Soddy-Daisy, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was a loving and caring husband and father who enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Paul was retired from the Chattanooga Times Free Press. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Author and Margaret Carden; a daughter, Katy Lynn Carden; a grandson, Nathan Will Dent; brothers, Adolph Carden, and Leon Carden and his sisters, Katherine Nelson, Jeanette Harden, Oneida Kriens, Viva Weatherspoon and Magaline Maynor. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Carden; two daughters, Paula Sneed (Bobby), of Sale Creek and Stephanie Johnson, of Soddy-Daisy; a son, Charles (Pete) Miller, of Soddy-Daisy; his grandchildren, Delphia (Dent) May (Rick), Matthew Dent, James Johnson (Samantha), John Johnson (Angela), Robert Johnson (Jordan), Elizabeth Miller, Cristal Cain (Mark), Shelby Miller, LeRoy Kilgore, Brittany Sneed (Bobby Jr.); 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Dorthy Chase. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Delsie Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Robert Sneed, Jerry Hensley, JR Miller, Harley Dodd, Jerry Kilgore and Roger Nelson.
