Maurice Brewster

Mr. Maurice Lynn Brewster, of Chattanooga, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 8, 2017, in a local hospital after a short illness. He was 55. Maurice was born to Ronald Gay and Thelma Joyce Brewster on April 19, 1962, in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a 1980 graduate of Kirkman High School where he played football. He also obtained an associate degree in computer science from Chattanooga State Community College where he was a member of the Omega Psi Fraternity. Maurice was employed by Food City formerly known as Red Food Store/Bilo for more than 30 years. However, the most important thing to know about Maurice is he knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He accepted Jesus as his savior at a young age at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Maurice was a loving and caring son and father. He cared for his mother during her illness making sure all her needs were met until his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Gay. Maurice leaves to cherish his memories his former wife of 30 years, Deborah Rutledge Brewster; son, JerMichael Maurice Brewster; mother, Thelma Joyce Brewster; sisters, Janice Gay Williams; Angela Gail Mikes, and Rhonda Mikes; host of nieces and nephews, all of Chattanooga, Tenn. The body will lie-in-state after noon today, June 15, 2017, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 in the chapel. Interment: Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 423-622-9995.
