Julia O'Neal

Julia Louise O’Neal, 96, of Chattanooga, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by her loving children on June 23, 2017, at NHC Healthcare in Dunlap, Tenn. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend. She was of the Nazarene faith for 96 years. She served in many capacities within the Nazarene Church. She was the pianist for many years. She was a retired bookkeeper. Mrs. O’Neal was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Shelbyville, Tenn., to the late Jimmie Benton Rogers and Johnnie Anita Coats Rogers. She was preceded in death by Dewey Avery O’Neal Sr.; two sisters, Helen Choate, and Francis Roddy; one brother, Jim Rogers; and two of her precious children, Nancy Fay Hester, and Dewey Avery O’Neal Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Ann (Marvin) Paschall, of Morganton, N.C.; one son, Roger (Sherry) O’Neal, of Dunlap, Tenn.; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 26. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Nazarene Missions International, 17001 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS 66220.
